Evaluation Clients

What should we expect at our first appointment?

Your initial appointment will last approximately an hour. You (and your child if they are the client) will meet with your psychologist to discuss current strengths and challenges. This will allow your psychologist to determine an appropriate battery of tests to answer all of your questions.

What is the evaluation process like?

The evaluation process begins with your intake appointment. Depending on how much testing is needed, one to three testing appointments will be scheduled. You may also be asked to complete some rating scales about behaviors observed at home and at school.

Once all the testing information is received, the psychologist will prepare a written report and share the results and recommendations with you in a feedback session. Most evaluations are completed in three to five appointments. Feedback sessions are typically held two to four weeks after the last piece of evaluation information is received.

For what purposes can we use the documentation in the psychological evaluation report?

Your psychological evaluation report can be used for documentation for a variety of purposes. These include but are not limited to:

• Requests for special services from your child’s school including special education services or 504 accommodation plans

• Accommodations for college board(e.g., SAT or ACT) or other standardized testing

• Accommodations for college accommodations through the disability services office

• Katie Beckett Deeming Waiver Eligibility

• Documentation of diagnosis for treatment planning or medication management

What if there is a custody order in place for my child?

What if I cannot keep my scheduled appointment?

If it is necessary to cancel or reschedule your appointment, please provide as much notice as possible so that your time may be offered to another client. Cancellations with less than 24 hours notice will incur a late fee of $100. The late cancellation fee for testing is $300 as large blocks of time are reserved for your appointment.
